Leona Alleslev is the Member of Parliament for Aurora-Oak Ridges-Richmond Hill. Leona is a former Canadian Air Force Officer, Senior Manager, and entrepreneur.
She has held leadership positions in the Department of National Defence, as well as senior managerial roles with IBM Canada and Bombardier Aerospace.
As part of her role both in the military and at IBM she was involved in information and cyber security, supporting the design, integration and maintenance of information systems, C4ISR (command control communications computers intelligence surveillance and reconnaissance) defence systems. As a Member of Parliament she has served as the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Public Services and Procurement supporting the Minister directly in the areas of Shared Services Canada and defence procurement.
Following that she was appointed to the National Defence committee conducting studies on: The Readiness of Canada’s Naval Forces, with cyber threats in the Maritime domain, and Canada’s Support to Ukraine in Crisis and Armed Conflict looking at hybrid warfare, disinformation campaigns and cyber-attacks. Additionally, as Chair of the NATO Parliamentary Association with a role on its Science and Technology Committee, she has been involved in topics including The Internet of Things: Promises and Perils of a Disruptive Technology which looks at NATO’s cyber and IoT security risks.
Leona earned a B.A. (Honours) in History and Political Science from the Royal Military College of Canada in Kingston and received her Queen’s Commission to serve as an Air Force Logistics Officer.
